So I asked a question a few days ago: do you still listen to music without being distracted?
I had some pretty cool replies! Some read books, some go for a drive, etc. Some even listen to music in the described manner!
Part of why I asked is you when I think about our current relationship with music–the zone is flooded. Spotify, as an example, has an endless parade of music and it’s kinda just noise while doing something else.
I was thinking about how the trend of AI music production and mass produced stuff doesn’t have the same relationship we once had.
Back then, you go work at a movie theater all month, have a couple extra bucks and go buy a physical album of a band. There’s a number of little quips like this that suggest overall we had a much different kind of connection to music.
I also had a thought about how cool live shows at conventions are. It’s real live, breathing music! Which feels as though it’s becoming harder and harder to find.
It’s nice to hear some people still shut everything off and listen to music! I should have asked what people listen to, because I didn’t get a lot of those answers!
